In this blog we are going to begin to look at secrets. Remember that God shouts His truths and whispers His secrets. I refer to these types of encounters as secrets because these are areas which we have to engage in. Truth encounters can take place regardless of whether we want them or not, although they should be desired to let God know that you want to experience Him at that level. In order to experience God's secrets you have to walk out in faith and grab hold of them. This is even true with dreams. Let's look at the still small voice. The still small voice is the Holy Spirit, which is different than the audible voice which comes from the Father Himself. The still small voice can be easily missed because it will sound like your voice, but will be spoken with an authority that is not yours. I touch on this in my blog post "God's Voice is for all to Hear." I refer to the scripture verse from John 10 where Jesus said ‘My sheep hear My voice.’ The voice that He is referring to here is the voice of the Holy Spirit, which is the same as hearing Jesus speak in the Spirit. If you were to have a visitation from Jesus then His voice would sound different than the still small voice because you would be face-to-face with Him. The still small voice is very gentle and will not talk over our voice, which is why it takes faith to stop and grab hold of it. It can take years of focusing on listening to the still small voice before you come into any maturity in hearing it. This is about relationship which takes time to build so we need to make sure that we are in no hurry when it comes to growing in this subject. This will not happen unless you set some time aside everyday to develop and cultivate this type of relationship. If you do so then you will find that it is the greatest type of encounter you can have because it is very personal. We like the bells and whistles and the big stuff, but just because we have some type of major encounter, which I call a truth encounter, that does not mean you will change or come into any form of maturity. However you cannot consistently hear the still small voice without maturing. So let’s mature in The Lord together and grow in our relationship with Him through listening to the still small voice.
